Built on a Love for the Breed

Glenmac Goldens began the way most things worth doing begin — not with a business plan, but with a dog.

Our first golden retriever, a dog named Gabby, arrived in our lives more than thirty years ago. She was not from a careful breeder. She was not health-tested. She was, by any objective measure, an ordinary dog. But she was extraordinary to us — patient with our boys, steady in every situation, and possessed of a warmth that made our home feel different. I loved that dog! She lived to thirteen years, and when she was gone, the absence was profound.

After Gabby I applied myself to learning everything about the golden retriever — its history as a working retriever, its health challenges, the difference between a dog bred with care and one bred without it.

Glenmac Goldens is named for my dad. To me he embodied the calm, approachable steadiness you find in this breed of dog. Daddy was gentle and easy to be with. He was very respected by anyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

We produce a small number of litters each year, from dogs we have selected with extraordinary care, raised in our home, and tested to the highest standards. We place puppies with families who understand that a golden retriever is not a purchase — it is a commitment. We are not the largest breeder you will find. We are not the fastest. We do not have puppies available at all times. What we have is a program built on twenty years of learning, eight years of actual breeding, a deep respect for this breed, and an unwavering commitment to the families who trust us with one of the most important decisions they will make.
